Welcome to Class 2!
Welcome to Class 2 with Miss Johnson
We are looking forward to a brilliant year ahead in Class 2! All children have started school in September in a happy and positive manner, ready for the learning taking place around the school. Class 2 have already begun our new Curriculum Vehicle – Trash to Treasure. We have even had a visit from Mr Owen (a charity owner and part of our School Governance) who thought our class were beautifully behaved and full of enthusiasm! We will soon be receiving a Skype call from his school in Malawi to support our Curriculum Vehicle Learning. In class 2 we are constantly challenging ourselves in all areas of the curriculum and we celebrate our successes regularly.
This term we will be learning about:
We will focus on Place Value this term covering these strands: Recognising and representing numbers, comparing numbers, splitting numbers into tens and ones, ordering objects and numbers and counting in 2s, 5s, 10s and 3s.
In addition to this we will have daily opportunities to develop our mental Maths skills. We will practise times tables and number bonds to develop the speed and fluency of recalling these facts.
We will be exploring the text ‘The Tin Forest’ by Aaron Becker. Through this narrative we will be writing stories and poems.
We will learn spellings, handwriting and reading comprehension skills daily in Class 2.
Our first RE unit is ‘Creation’. We will be learning about giving thanks for creation. We will also be learning new prayers in each year group and exploring the importance of prayer in our daily lives.
Our Class Saint is St. Francis of Assisi.
Curriculum Vehicle – Trash to Treasure
We have some amazing activities planned to develop our learning across all areas of the curriculum. We will develop the ability to plan our own learning journeys. This will involve working together, making decisions and evaluating our work. We will all be working towards designing and creating our very ow recycled product, working alongside the charity – Cycle of Good.
Please visit regularly to see some of our great achievements and updates on our learning journey.
In Art and DT, Class 2 have made some wonderful African Style Necklaces as part of our Trash to Treasure Vehicle. Class 2 were so proud and asked if we could show their parents!
Here is a picture of their fantastic work!
