03.11.2022 We have had a fantastic morning! As part of our R.E this week we have been learning about Diwali 🪔 This morning, we joined with Class 3 to create some of our very own Rangoli Patterns using coloured rice. We all had such fun creating these patterns using lots of bright colours 🌈
01.11.2022 Class 1 have been super mathematicians and enjoyed hunting for 2D shapes in the classroom! We looked at squares, rectangles, triangles and circles. We found lots of different examples! We then discussed with our partner the properties of the shapes and described how each shape is different!
12.10.2022 Class 1 have had ‘such tremendous fun’ this morning! We love learning new nursery rhymes and it’s even better when we get to act them out 😃 The children have enjoyed using their hippo headbands to sing along and count the hippos as one more joined them on the slippery rock before they all fell in the mud 🦛 Class 1 have enjoyed exploring different ways we can show numbers using our fingers ✋🏽 This is the link to the nursery rhyme so you can also have a go at home ⭐️ https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/school-radio/nursery-rhymes-one-big-hippo-balancing/zkfxwty
07.10.2022 Class 1 have had a fantastic morning learning about the police! 👮🏼♀️👮🏻♂️👮🏼♀️ As part of our topic and focus story this week is linked to the police we thought that there is no better way to end the week than having a visit from the police themselves! As we walked outside, we were greeted by 3 friendly police officers and a police car with flashing lights 🚓 we all had lots of opportunities to try on a range of police uniform and accessories. We even got to sit in the police car and listen to the very loud siren 🚨
05.10.2022 We have had a fantastic afternoon learning about the people who help us in our local community. The children have had a fantastic time dressing up and carrying out the duties of a variety of people who help us! Class 1 then decided to create thank you cards for all the special people who help us 😃
04.10.2022 Our focus story is ‘Cops and Robbers’ by Janet and Allan Ahlberg. In the story, the robbers steal the presents from the children on Christmas Eve but officer Pugh saves the day! Class 1 have been using their creative skills to create houses for the families to live in so the robbers can’t get in. Some of the children then decided to be the robbers and create a train track to run away and hide! 👮🏻♂️👮🏼♀️ 🔎
08.09.2022 We’ve had a very musical morning in class 1 🎶 The children have really enjoyed exploring the sounds of all the different instruments and using their super listening skills to identify the instrument played under the blanket. 🥁 🎶
06.09.2022 What a fantastic start! Class 1 have settled in lovely. All of the children have got stuck in with exploring a range of activities 🔍 🚂 📖 🖍 🦖
14.03.2022 Class 1 have been busy painting prayer stones for our prayer garden and thought about those who need help.
11.03.2022 Spring was certainly in the air this morning when we welcomed two visitors into school! Thank you to Arthur and his mum who brought two little lambs in to say hello!

03.03.2022 This afternoon, we decided to tidy up our prayer garden. All of the children got stuck in. We found lots of insects but our most interesting find was an old rusty tin that we can’t open! The children have had some amazing ideas about what might be in our tin and have even thought of how we might be able to get into the tin. The children are looking forward to investigating further! 🔍🔍🔍
01.03.2022 Today, we have been learning about why we have pancakes on Shrove Tuesday. The children have really enjoyed getting ‘stuck in’ with the pancake tuff spot! 🥞
18.02.2022 We love reading! 📚 We always love to have a look at a book and use our imagination to create our own story! It is also great to see some of the children using their phonic knowledge to read some of the words and spot the sounds we have been learning! It is also great to see so many children sharing this love of reading at home 📖 Have a lovely half term 😃
14.02.2022 For Valentine’s Day, class 1 looked at the importance of friendship. They made friendship potions to see what the perfect ‘recipe’ for being a good friend could be. They shared the ‘ingredients’ and helped their friends to mix them! In their potions, the children all included sharing, helpfulness, kindness and honesty. They also made cards to tell their grown-ups that they ‘love them to pieces'.
11.02.2022 This week we have been celebrating Chinese New Year! We have done lots of mark making in the red rice, had a go at using chopsticks and painting tigers along with lots of other exciting activities! 🐅 🖌 🥢 We have really enjoyed learning about all of the celebrations linked to Chinese New Year ⭐️
10.02.2022 As part of Children’s Mental Health week we have been looking at how much we have grown. We talked about how we have grown physically and emotionally! To support this discussion, we read ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ and looked at how the caterpillar grew and the changes it went through. We then compared how we have changed by discussing some of the things we couldn’t do as babies but we can now. All of the children had great ideas! They suggested how they can now ride bikes, get into their own bed and use the toilet independently! We also thought about how we have developed emotionally because we no longer cry for milk or when we go to the toilet!
27.01.2022 Last week, Class 1's focus story was 'Three Little Pigs'. The children worked together to build a straw house in our outdoor area. They discussed what they wanted it to look like and decided what materials they would use. They left some fruit and teddies in the straw house hoping that the Three Little Pigs might visit. When we came back to school the next day, we spotted that something had indeed visited our straw house!
07.01.2022 In class 1 we have had a great week back! This week, we have been learning about ‘The Gingerbread Man’. The children have really enjoyed having the home corner turned into a gingerbread house, lots of fun activities and as I’m sure you have all noticed - a flour station! The children have explored the flour and have been making lots of different things in the ‘bakery’ along with a lot of mark making!
17.12.2021 What a fantastic half term! Class 1 have been very busy this half term. For our All About Me topic, we have been learning about how to keep our bodies healthy. 14.12.2021 Class 1 and Class 2 worked very hard for their Christmas performance! We were very proud of all of the children ⭐️ thank you to all of the parents, grandparents and carers who came and watched the performance too 😃 all of the children did so well learning the songs and actions 🌟

01.12.2021 In Class 1, we have had an amazing week learning about ‘Supertato’. We have looked at healthy foods and even tasted some. We had a great afternoon and all of the children enjoyed trying everything! 🍏🍐🥝🥕🥔🍍
29.11.2021 Big smiles for Class 1! The children looked at why it is important to brush their teeth and how to make sure they brush thoroughly. They were all superstars at brushing their teeth and knew lots of different ways we can keep our teeth healthy!
19.11.2021 This week we had some very special visitors. We heard some stories about the animals and we all got a chance to hold or stroke them. Class 1 were very brave! 🐍🦎🦉🐢
