Welcome to Class 4 with Mrs Cornes
We are looking forward to a brilliant year ahead in Class 4! All children have started school in September in a happy and positive manner, ready for the learning taking place around the school. Class 4 have already begun our new Curriculum Vehicle – The Power of Robotics We had a fantastic opportunity to visit, Jaguar Land Rover, to witness the power of Robotics in action. In class 4 we are constantly challenging ourselves in all areas of the curriculum and we celebrate our successes regularly.
This term we will be learning about:
We will focus on Place Value this term covering these strands: Recognising and representing numbers, comparing numbers, Roman numerals, negative numbers.
In addition to this we will have daily opportunities to develop our mental Maths skills. We will practise times tables to develop the speed and fluency of recalling these facts.
We will be exploring the text ‘Lettters from the Lighthouse by Emma Caroll. Through this narrative we will be writing stories and poems.
We will learn spellings, handwriting and reading comprehension skills daily in Class 4.
Our first RE unit is ‘Creation’. We will be learning about giving thanks for creation. We will also be learning new prayers in each year group and exploring the importance of prayer in our daily lives.
Our Class Saint will be Cardinal John Newman who will be canonised on 13th October.
Curriculum Vehicle – The Power Of Robotics
We have some amazing activities planned to develop our learning across all areas of the curriculum. We will develop the ability to plan our own learning journeys. This will involve working together, making decisions and evaluating our work. We will all be working towards designing and creating our very own Robot!
Please visit regularly to see some of our great achievements and updates on our learning journey.
